Gingerbread Friends
by Jan Brett

Each of Jan Brett’s books is amazing in its gorgeous detail and fun storytelling. I love that she does research for every book, choosing an interesting ethnic background that adds an additional element to the story. In this version of the gingerbread boy, Ms. Brett has chosen Switzerland as her story’s setting. As a young girl, I fell in love with Switzerland when reading Heidi. Plus, I make all sorts of gingerbread men and women, boys and girls each Christmas. So I found this book especially tasty...er...I mean, appealing. Kids will get a kick out of the giant fold-out page and the surprising resolution to the story.
