The Glimmer Glen Elves

Picture
Gus
The Spokes-Elf for the elves of Glimmer Glen, Gus appears somewhat gruff and pompous. Underneath the bluster, he has a tender heart and is able to laugh at himself. That’s a very good thing because, despite his wish for orderliness, Gus can be quite absent minded. Gus is also the poet of the elf gathersome even though his poetry is not always of the highest order.
His instrument is the thumb piano.

PeaPod
All the elves can change their size, but PeaPod employs this talent better and more often than the others of her gather-some. The most mischievous of the elves, she loves to play tricks on the others. Who knows where you might discover her? Under a cabbage leaf? In a teapot? If she can’t be found, the seeker should listen for the sound of her kazoo. Despite her fun-loving nature, PeaPod takes her role as Keeper of the Garden seriously.

Starshine
Although some elves look somewhat like their relatives, the short, stout, gnomes, Starshine’s appearance is one of beauty. So beautiful in fact, that her skin seems to glow from within. Those who find themselves in her presence immediately sense her calm, gentle spirit. Starshine is the mother of Bluestar and she’s an accomplished player of the lyre. She is also the Keeper of the Goats, milking them and spinning their hair for Thimble to weave.

Bluestar
The youngest of the elves, Bluestar is rather shy around humans and elves outside his dear Glimmer Glen Gathersome. But come winter, he transforms to his more lively self, keeping time with the music in the Gathering Lodge, vigorously clacking his sticks and adding his child-voice to the singing. His favorite times of the year though, are spring and summer when he can be seen studying the insects that buzz and flit around Glimmer Glen.

Jasper
Jasper is the oldest of the elves…having lived almost 1500 years…and his speech is sprinkled with old-time phrases. Jasper’s appearance allows him to blend in with wooden objects. If you squint your eyes, you just might be able to make him out in the grain of a door or the bark of a tree. In fact, Jasper loves trees so much that unlike the other elves who live in cottages, his home is inside a tree. There you might find him studying in his library stuffed with books and parchments. His favorite instrument is the ocarina.

Thimble
There’s no mistaking Thimble’s occupation. His hat makes it obvious that he’s the tailor for the Glimmer Glen Elves. Not only that, he weaves most of the cloth for their garments. It’s difficult for Thimble to be humble. His creations have drawn admiring looks at the great elfin Gatheralls and the gratitude of his own gathersome. Thimble’s fingers, so nimble at throwing the weaving shuttle and stitching up hems, also are used to great effect in his playing of the flute.

Mistletoe
With her dazzling smile and love of music and dance, Mistletoe gladdens the hearts of all who meet her. Her instrument is a jingle bell stick and winter is her favorite time of year. That’s when the elves spend much time around the fireplace in the Gathering Lodge, swapping stories, making up songs, and dancing until the walls ring with their laughter. Mistletoe is, of course, the merriest of them all!
