Snowflake Bentley

by Jacqueline B Martin
Illustrations by Mary Azaria

From the time he was a small boy, Wilson Bentley was fascinated with snowflakes. His fascination grew into a passion to record snowflakes with his camera. For years he was ridiculed by others, but finally he was able to prove that no two snowflakes are alike. Although a biography of Wilson, Snowflake Bentley reads like a fascinating work of fiction. The beautiful woodcut illustrations by Mary Azarian are a perfect compliment to the story. Also includes photographs of Bentley at work and examples of his slides. Winner of the 1999 Caldecott Medal.
